Relative Abundance & GPS Coordinate Reliability

 HOW TO INTERPRET LABEL DATA

RELATIVE ABUNDANCE

Rare = 1 to 4 individuals or colonies.

Scarce = 5 to 10.

Infrequent = 11 to 30.

Occasional = 31 to 100.

Frequent = 101 to 1000.

Abundant = 1000+.

RELIABILITY (GPS coordinates)

Exact = point taken at the immediate location of the specimen. Most collections fit this criterion.

Near = point within a ca. 200 ft radius of the specimen.

Site Centroid = point within a ca. 200 yd radius of the specimen.

Rough Estimate = point based on a predicted locality based on label data.

Town Centroid = point at the center of a township due to vague label data.

County Centroid = point at center of county due to extreme vagueness of the label data.
